about how rainbow is formed

Rainbow is a natural phenomenon that occurs due to the refraction of sunlight by water grains. Rainbows have 7 colours consisting of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Rainbows are also considered optical and meteorological phenomena in the form of multi-coloured light aligned with each other visible in the sky or other medium. Rainbows generally appear after rainfall or are seen around a cascading waterfall.

Rainbows appear because light refracts and strays away from particles. When the sun sets, the sky turns red because sunlight passes through an atmosphere that is much thicker than the sun's during the day. Rainbows are not visible at night or in cloudy weather. This is because rainbows are the result of light refraction. At first the sun passes through the raindrops and is refracted/bent into the centre of the raindrops, separating the white light into the colours of the spectrum.

Rainbows can only be seen when it is raining at the same time as the sun is shining from the opposite side of the observer. The observer's position must be between the sun and the water drop with the sun behind the person. The sun, the observer's eyes and the centre of the rainbow arc must be in a straight line. The light with the shortest curve length is purple, while the curve with the longest light is red on the outside.
